Why Remote Coaching is a Game-Changer for Professionals

When I first began coaching virtually, it wasn’t just a professional choice—it was personal. After an accident left me with mobility challenges, I wasn’t ready to stop doing the work I loved. Coaching was (and still is) my way of helping people thrive, but I had to find a way to adapt. Virtual coaching became that bridge for me. It allowed me to continue showing up for clients while honoring my own healing journey.

That experience shaped the way I approach coaching today. I understand that people come to coaching not just for professional growth, but also for balance, flexibility, and a way to thrive even when life throws curveballs.

It's the Flexibility That Makes Remote Coaching Work

In today’s fast-paced world, balance isn’t optional—it’s survival. One of the greatest gifts of virtual coaching is its flexibility. My clients don’t need to commute, carve out half their day, or show up in a certain way. We can meet early in the morning, during a lunch break, or after the kids are asleep. Sometimes we use video, other times clients prefer to keep the camera off and focus purely on the conversation. Coaching works best when you feel safe and comfortable, and virtual sessions make that possible.

And from my perspective as a coach, virtual practice allows me to be more present with my clients. Instead of being bound by rigid schedules or environments, I can meet people exactly where they are—literally and figuratively.

Growth Beyond Convenience

Yes, remote coaching is convenient, but it’s so much more than that. Coaching is about helping people see what they can’t always see in themselves—those blind spots, those repeating patterns, and those untapped strengths.

In my own practice, I draw from a unique background: nursing education, project management, and trauma-informed care. I’m also an ICF-certified PCC coach, which simply means I’ve invested deeply in honing my craft. But more important than the letters after my name is how I use that knowledge. I work with clients to build strategies that are personalized, sustainable, and grounded in evidence.

Depending on a client’s needs, I might integrate validated assessment tools to give us a deeper lens, or we might focus purely on conversation and reflection. The throughline is always the same: helping people grow in ways that are meaningful to them.

Work-Life Balance as a Coaching Outcome

Many of my clients come to coaching hoping to grow professionally, but what often surprises them is how much coaching improves their life outside of work. Coaching creates space for boundaries, balance, and healthier ways of being. For some, it’s learning how to delegate without guilt. For others, it’s having permission to rest.

For me, balance isn’t theoretical—I had to rebuild it for myself after my accident. That lived experience informs how I coach others through their own challenges with work-life balance. Coaching is not therapy—it won’t unpack deep trauma or diagnose mental health conditions. What it will do is help you find clarity, set goals, and create practical steps that align with your values.

What About the Cost?

Let’s talk about something people often shy away from: pricing. The truth is, coaching is an investment—and like most investments, you often get what you pay for. A coach’s credentials, lived experience, and ability to use evidence-based tools all influence cost.

On average, sessions can range anywhere from $75 to $300 per hour, depending on factors like experience and services offered. Many coaches, myself included, offer packages or payment plans to make coaching more accessible. And increasingly, employers are covering coaching as part of professional development benefits.

When you’re choosing a coach, I encourage you not to focus only on the price tag. Instead, consider the value. A coach who helps you grow into a stronger leader, find balance, or make intentional career moves is not just an expense—it’s an investment in your future.

Choosing the Right Coach for You

Finding the right coach is less about checking boxes and more about fit. Yes, you’ll want to look at experience and training, but what matters most is whether you feel seen, respected, and challenged in a supportive way.

A few things to consider:

  • Style & Connection: Does the coach’s communication style resonate with you?

  • Approach: Do they integrate tools or methods that support how you learn and grow best?

  • Values Alignment: Do they create a space where your whole self—your identity, values, and lived experience—can be honored?

Many coaches offer an introductory call. Use that time to ask questions and notice how you feel in conversation. Coaching is about partnership, and the right partnership can make all the difference.

Embracing the Future of Growth

Remote coaching has changed not only how I coach, but how I live. It’s proof that growth, balance, and connection can happen without the limits of location.

If you’re curious about whether coaching might support your professional or personal goals, I encourage you to explore it.

Whether it’s with me or another coach who feels like the right fit, know this: coaching can be a powerful tool to help you thrive—at work and in life.
